God's word reaches the unreached in PNG

Hello Samuel, Last year RMA printed 9,180 King of Glory books in the Tok Pisin language for Papua New Guinea. The books arrived mid April 2023. They were all sent out within 3 months to the different missionaries and ministries. Many of them said how well they were received. I have been writing to the folks of Papua New Guinea to request how many more King of Glory books they would like for their specific area and people group. While doing that, I also requested that they share whatever stories and pictures that they have to let me know how the books were received.

We would like to request RMA to print a further 25,000 King of Glory books in Tok Pisin for PNG, whatever might fit best in a 20’ container. The distribution timing would be for January 2025. We look forward to many hearing the Gospel clearly because of this resource.

“We are a small group of ladies that go to the hospital regularly to visit ladies with very small or sick babies that have to be in the special care nursery. They are there for a week or more. We used 200 books last year (2023) and would be happy to get at least 200 more for this year. We hand them out to the ladies to follow along with the devotion that we teach, then they can read any part that they have missed.” Michaela.

“I work with the N*** Tribe of Papua New Guinea. We are doing a translation of the New Testament and currently have 81% of the NT completed. We missed out on the first round of King Bilong Glori books that were made available here in PNG, and would very much like to get in on the second round. The N*** people are hungry to learn more about God’s word, and these books would be a great resource for their growth. If possible, we would like to obtain 200 copies of the Tok Pisin version of this book.

“Some of the King of Glory Books are used in Hospitals to run a Bible Class here in Goroka. Most rural mothers who come to Goroka for medical Treatment at the Goroka-Hausik, are given this book. The Pictures made it interesting for them to read. Some of the Women at MAF (Missionary Aviation Fellowship) will go to the Hospital and help the women to read the book, going through the pages with them during visitation hours. Some people are using this book to teach the children in their Sunday School Class”

“Thank you for your work to make these books accessible to so many people! I had the privilege of bringing out 50 copies to the G*** people, living in four villages in the remote Gulf area of Papua New Guinea. I stayed only a short time in each village during this past trip, but I trust that God will use the books for His good purposes in my absence. I can share a couple of small snippets that I observed relating to the books:

When I arrived in A*** village, even before distributing any of the books, an elderly man asked me if I could bring down pictures of Bible stories next time I come. I was thankful that the illustrations in the King Bilong Glori books were exactly what he was hoping to see and learn from.

A literacy teacher had moved from her own village to B*** village to teach the small children there to read. She sees it as a way to serve God among those who have less access to education. It is geographically difficult for people in B*** to go to school, so few children there ever learn to read. The G*** people in the other villages refer to B*** as a “bush village,” where people are less engaged in church and school activities. This literacy teacher received one of the King Bilong Glori books, and her very outgoing small daughter was going through the book, page by page, pointing to the beautiful illustrations and telling the Bible stories which her parents had taught her, to a group of children and mothers gathered around her.” Hollie.

“I am a Wycliffe translator working with two language groups (Mato and Uma) on the northern coast of PNG straddling the border of Morobe and Madang Province. I ordered 100 copies in the previous printing, sending 50 to each language group. I was recently back in PNG and heard that everyone really appreciated the books, except for the fact that there were too few to go around. So I was excited to hear that there will be a possible second printing. Would it be possible to get 200 more copies...”

“I received 100 copies of the first printing of this book. On Feb 17 we had a large K*** NT Dedication planned, to “launch” the vernacular NT, along with several OT books. At the Dedication celebration, we will also be setting up each local congregation with a “mini-library” that contains vernacular materials, but also other Bible study materials in Tok Pisin. We have 25 villages in the language area, each with its own congregation. We will be including some copies of King Bilong Glori in those sets as well. We intend for these materials to be used by the local Pastor and by Deacons and other local church leaders who preach, teach, or want to study God’s Word. We will also be providing some copies of King Bilong Glori to the two Community Schools in the language area. The small number of Kaluli people I was able to share the book with were very enthusiastic about it”
